On the fourth day of the Trauma, Relationship and Sexualityworkshop series, Alli Ruttger, a psychotherapist, presented a narrative therapytechnique known as the "Tree of Life".
At the beginning of the event, each participant was given apiece of paper with a simple tree drawing. Alli then guided the participants tocomplete their "Tree of Life". Starting from the roots, soil, trunk, branches, leaves, and finally fruits/flowers, it depicted the complete life ofeach individual.
Afterwards participants had the opportunity to view the"Forest of Life" where they could hear and read other participants'life stories. There were many stories of challenges, hope, strength and otherlife values to strive for. These encouraged the participants to encourage eachother and build strength to get through difficult times.
At the end of the workshop, Alli also invited participantsto share their experiences or tips in responding to "storms" in life.
